(I’ve been to Mecca during the last 2008 Hajj season. Due to some issues raised in this site about how the Hajj is managed by the Office of Muslim Affairs and the request by some, especially in the Chat box, to those interested to share their first-hand experiences, I am sharing some pages from a personal Diary I kept during the Hajj. The following is the first installment)
Every Muslim dreams of one day going on a hajj. Being one of the five pillars of Islam, one never feels a complete Muslim unless he has made the journey. Such a dream is shaped from early childhood and nurtured by the stories of those members of the family who have made this lifetime voyage. In my case, the images I held in my mind were still the same pictures painted to me as a kid back in the 1960’s.
