Quasi Filipino
My brothers whom I care and who care me, my sisters whom I love and who love me, my parents whom I respect and who are BANGSAMORO by heart and by deed, read me because I have something to tell you about KAMANTIS or TOMATO in English. Kamantis has another meaning in Meranao, the children called someone as Kamantis if he is not fit to play the game, he could still join the game but in truth and reality he is not part of the game.
When I was young, I usually playing games with kids who are older than me. One day I saw my friends who were playing hide and seek, I told them that I want to join, and they said why not, provided that I am a KAMANTIS. I do not know yet the meaning of kamantis at that time, I just run and hide myself so that I could not be seen. Whenever my friends laughed I also laughed louder than them, actually, I was the happiest kid in the world. Then gradually, I realized that I have never been tagged or my name has never been called loudly in the home base as what to the other players have done to them.
I started to complain with my friends, I said to them that why I have been treated like this, I think I don’t deserve this because I did everything that you did, and they said, because you are just a kamantis. From that moment the word KAMANTIS is one of the top ten in my vocabulary.
I am deeply sad with the outcome of the 2010 election, because I realized that we are just a KAMANTIS in this country. I am expecting that some of the Bangsamoro who are running for the Senator will surely win. What triggered my agony is the case of Erap, we all knew that he was convicted for plunder, but still Millions of the Filipinos vote for him without thinking of the shame that they could receive from the other countries if Erap wins.
Erap’s campaign is clear and simple and that is to bring war to the Bangsamoro, it simply means that this guy really hate the Bangsamoro. Just imagine for thousands of ways in addressing this conflict why go to war? He wanted to again kill, rape, massacre, and rub the houses of the poor Moros. That is definitely madness. Unfortunately, he got more than 8 million votes, and almost wins the position of president if Noynoy did not run. Which mean that the majority Filipinos wanted the Bangsamoro to be erased from the earth. Why call us Filipino if you do not like us to be part of your world?
Why call us Filipino if you don’t even vote one of us to be one of the servants of the Republic?
Erap during his presidency declared all out war against the Bangsamoro, which is very unconstitutional. And war can only be declared against to another nation or country, not against to the citizens of the Republic. Would it mean that the Bangsamoro is different from being a Filipino?
Remember that war never wins war, it brings only destructions to the world of both parties, and wound to the hearts and minds of all the oppressed people. War is never been the decisive solution to every conflicts. Look Afghanistan and Iraq, did the war ends the problem?
The Bangsamoros were treated as a Filipino for some instances and not for many instances. |

There you go again buddy! I can't afford having a profuse nose bleed as I patiently went on digesting your literary work. And oh by the way, there is no such thing as "quasi-filipino." |
