The RC – Al Khwarizmi International College Foundation, Inc. (AKIC) celebrated its 2nd year last February 2010 with its theme: “AKIC’s Quest for Excellence and Global Home in Lanao”. In its short life, AKIC has been recognized for its numerous features designed to achieve the dreams of the young Meranaos.
Aside from the continuous support it has from concerned members of the RC here and abroad, the Foundation has expanded its educational concerns. The college has offered the new degree in town, the Bachelor of Science in Diplomacy and International Relations where students are groomed to be talented and well-exposed to global relations and issues under the supervision of top-caliber professors in the country and abroad.
To mark further its dedication towards young minds, the foundation expanded its curricula and opened last June 2009 its Science Laboratory School. This has been fully supported by an international partner, the Arndell Park Learning Center of Australia. This year the RC AKIC Science Lab School has 5 times more enrollment and the admin had to refused the admission of over a hundred more students due to shortage of facilities.
This year, the foundation prepares its faculty and administration for the creation of several proposals for international partnership and support including student and faculty exposures abroad. |

We are doing that NLK. My Physical Science class at the RC AKIC has 82 students and another section has 56 students. I require them to get information and reports from the RC.com Forum on science. Dr. Umpa's class has 58 students in Political Science 11. We do have a good number of new students in the RC College. |

Last Sunday, July 25, 2010 in the morning, 39 RC AKIC students were recognized and awarded by the RC AKIC President, Dr. Camar A. Umpa as members of the Honors’ Program. That means all the 39 have earned no less than 1.75 Commulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) after 4 to 6 trimesters. The highest was a BS Accountancy Student who has earned a CGPA of 1.10 in 6 trimesters. Parents of the honor students were invited and were in the occasion to witness the Recognition. Most of them were in teary eyes as they witness the recognition and awards to their children. It is heartwarming to see those students receive their respective awards with so much promise of doing even better.
The 39 Honor Students represents roughly 10 % of the total enrollment but about 26% of the old students. A survey of the intentions of all the RC AKIC students showed that 96% are wishing to become Honor Students. Dr. Umpa was so amazed to know the results of the survey. In this trimester, it is expected that the Honor Students will comprise no less than 30% of the entire studentry.
It has to be noted that the RC AKIC high grades are hard to earn. 90% of all major subjects in Accountancy, Diplomacy, Computer Science, Information Technology and Education are handled by visiting Senior faculty members of MSU and appropriate line agencies ( Banks, BIR, etc). Most Accounting courses are handled by the best among the faculty of the Department of Accountancy of MSU. All major Computer Courses are handled by MSU experts. These faculty experts are carefully selected and invited in their free time ( mostly on week ends and late afternoons). In terms of teaching honoraria/allowances, RC AKIC provides nearly 3 times higher than MSU.
